Welcome to Yorkie and Small Dog Rescue

Yorkie and Small Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c) (3) Non Profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, abandoned, or otherwise homeless dogs. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER but our headquarters is located in the suburbs of Houston/Conroe and the Eastern part of TX, where our dogs are fostered in private homes.

Yorkshire Terriers are our main rescues. All dogs are spayed or neutered and are up to date on all shots before they can be placed in a new home. We require an application and a home visit plus an adoption fee. Adoption fees vary with each dog.

If you see any dog that you would like to adopt, please write to Linda at Yorkierescue@sbcglobal.net and ask for an application. We must have a completed application before the next step in the adoption process can be done.

We cannot guarantee that a dog is totally housebroken, as a pet placed in new surroundings will often need to be gently worked with. Yorkies do not respond to harsh treatment. This will only make matters worse. If you feel that an occasional accident can be overlooked, then a Yorkie may be the right breed for you.

We never place very small Yorkies in homes with small children.

Only rarely do puppies come into rescue but it does happen occasionally. Most rescue dogs are at least a couple of years old and the majority are seniors. Seniors are almost always calm and loving and they make particularly wonderful pets.

Please understand that we receive a huge volume of mail, and that e-mails can get lost. All of our board members and foster parents volunteer their spare time to help the dogs so please remember that it takes time to process applications. If you don't hear from us in a reasonable amount of time, please contact us again.

We do not adopt outside the state of Texas
There are many national groups on www.Petfinder.com, so please check for available pets in your state. Thank you so much for your interest in helping a rescued dog. These dogs are always grateful to find a wonderful new home, and you will find that they will enrich your life immeasurably with their love and devotion.

Our mission is to save as many dogs in need as we can especially those that have no other options. We would love to be in a position never to have to say no to a dog that might otherwise die, but we can only achieve this goal with ACTIVE participation, so please donate to help these otherwise helpless little ones.

Have a good day and God Bless.
